Part 1 Outline the WSH (Healthcare) Guidelines for the eldercare service environment
- Identify the WSH (Healthcare) Guidelines
- Determine the legal rights and responsibilities of clients and employees
- Explain organisational specific policies and standard operating procedures for WSH measures
- Apply WSH (Healthcare) Guidelines to contribute to a safe and healthy workplace
Part 2 Identify safety and health hazards in the eldercare service environment
- Demonstrate an understanding of the different types of safety and health hazards that may affect the well-being of caregivers and clients
- Identify the health conditions of clients that can pose a hazard to clients and/or caregivers
- Identify common types of healthcare waste in the workplace that can pose a hazard to clients and caregivers
Part 3 Report hazards according to WSH (Healthcare) Guidelines
- Identify appropriate personnel to report safety and health hazards and incidents to in the organisation
- Identify the appropriate communication channels and procedures for reporting hazards at the workplace
- Identify and report hazards and incidents and/or suspected infectious diseases to appropriate personnel according to organisational procedures and the WSH Guidelines
Part 4 Perform Work in a Safe and Ethical Manner
- Apply infection control measures against different modes of infection according to organisational procedures and WSH (Healthcare) Guidelines
- Apply risk control measures according to organisational procedures and WSH (Healthcare) Guidelines
- Use and maintain assistive aids, tools, and equipment according to organisational procedures and/or manufacturers instructions
- Clean bodily fluids after using appropriate tools and equipment according to organisational procedures and the WSH (Healthcare) Guidelines
- Clean and dispose healthcare waste using appropriate tools and equipment in accordance with organisational procedures and WSH (Healthcare) Guidelines
- Reinstate work environment according to organisational procedures
- Respond to unethical work practices according to organisational procedures
- Apply appropriate techniques to manage stress and ensure personal well-being
- Adhere to instructions provided by authorised personnel in the event of an emergency at the workplace in accordance with organisational procedures
- Adhere to infectious disease outbreak control measures at the workplace in accordance with guidelines provided by relevant regulatory bodies
- Provide feedback on effectiveness of WSH procedures and risk control measures in the eldercare service environment according to organisational requirements
