Course Outline

 

Assess security requirements for the event

  • Identify security needs and requirements for an event based on its size, type and context
  • Source relevant information from event stakeholders and regulatory bodies
  • Analyze relevant data from information sources concerning security incidents for trends and patterns of occurrences
  • Collate and document relevant issues raised

Conduct a security site assessment of the event venue

  • Develop a practical checklist so that site assessment is systematic and nothing essential would be left out
  • Compare actual site security performance (security system/ equipment/ access control/ building layout) against event plans (include security manpower) and document any variance accurately to meet security needs
  • Identify threats that may occur at the event site including environmental factors that may impact the security and safety of personnel and property

Address security deficiencies

  • Determine risk potential by analyzing relevant data and information sources
  • Develop strategies to address security risks
  • Propose appropriate corrective or control measures to address gaps in security
  • Provide recommendations which address security deficiencies within context of the event type and scope of activities to appropriate parties for follow up actions
