The WSQ Introduction to Indoor Farming using Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) Techniques is a 24-hour course designed for individuals interested in indoor farming and controlled environment agriculture. Participants will learn the principles and practices of plant propagation using CEA techniques. The course covers setting up the environment for plant propagation, executing propagation techniques, and maintaining propagated plants. It emphasizes workplace safety, documentation, and managing pests and diseases. The course combines theoretical knowledge with practical exercises to provide a comprehensive understanding of indoor farming and plant propagation.

Course Objectives

 

Upon completing this course, participants will be able to:

  • Prepare indoor farming environment for plant propagation includes tools, equipment, containers, propagating media and additives in accordance with recognised methods and procedures
  • Implement the plant propagation techniques in accordance with prescribed procedures
  • Mange the plant progagation materials includes plant materials, species, seeds, cuttings, buds, and grafts in accordance with appropriate propagation methods and guidelines.
  • Follow the relevant WSH practices and guidelines for plant propagation activities.
  • Establish aftercare maintenance activities to the plants after propagation
  • Document the propagation activities for compliance and reporting
  • Manage the plant propagation materials by treating pests and disease outbreaks in accordance with relevant hygiene guidelines.

 

Pre-requisites

 

The admission requirements are:

  • Read, write, and speak English at WPL Level 4
  • Manipulate numbers at WPN Level 4

Certificate Obtained and Conferred by

 

  • Upon meeting the attendance and assessment(s) criteria, participants will be awarded with a digital Statement of Attainment (SOA), accredited by SkillsFuture Singapore. SOA will be reflected as LNS-OPR-2058-1.1.
  • Upon meeting the attendance and assessment(s) criteria, participants will be awarded with a digital Certificate of Completion from NTUC LearningHub and Netacradle.
