Black Belts (BB) are basically the Lean Six Sigma (LSS) experts who will develop, coach, and lead cross-functional teams, mentor and advise management on prioritising, planning and launching Lean Six Sigma projects. BB are required to be highly skilled as they are the ones who will be directly responsible for the execution of projects in an organisation.
This course is designed to give participants a learning experience through “learn / apply” cycles using real-life business issues and problems. Participants must demonstrate their proficiency level in the usage of Lean Six Sigma tools and techniques to achieve actual dollar savings and customer benefits through actual project work to qualify for the certification.

Week 1: LSS advanced tools and techniques (3 days)
- Define phase
– Survey design and implementation
– Quality Function Deployment (QFD)
– Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) - Measure phase
– Measurement System Analysis (MSA)
– Passive and proactive data collection - Explore phase
– Advanced statistical tools and techniques
– Creative and innovation techniques
– System I and System II thinking
Participants are given four to six weeks to apply what they have learned before going to the Week 2 training session.
Week 2: LSS advanced tools and techniques (4 days)
- Project review and coaching
- Leading changes: understand yourself and your team
- Explore phase
– Full factorial design
– Fractional factorial design / conjoint analysis
– Big data and DOE - Design phase
– CTQ flow down and capability flow up
– Process modeling and simulations - Implementation phase
- Action plans
Participant must complete one project and pass the BB theory test to get BB certified. BB project must meet BB certification criteria (targeted benefit of $100,000 per annum) and endorsed by sponsor to get BB Certified.
Various interactive activities and group discussions are used to enable participants to learn how to successfully apply LSS to solve complex problems. 70% of the time focus on applications of the tools and techniques in solution design and problem solving.
This course is suitable for project managers, quality professionals, operation managers, engineers, business analyst, service principal, solution architect, and service delivery manager.
Prerequisite
Must be LSS Green Belt certified with SQC and good at quantitative analytical tools.
